Concert Report: Jimmy Joslin Birthday Party (Hammered Lamb)

Some of us have birthdays every year. Some of us have birthday parties. But no one celebrates his birthday quite like Jimmy Joslin so we were out last night to do just that at The Hammered Lamb.
But first we had to get past the Door Hostess who on this first evening of winter was bundled up like Nanook of the North!
The show began at 9PM yet there was already a crowd inside. Although The Hammered Lamb is covered, it only has walls on three sides so it is open to the chill.
The opener was already playing when we arrived.
DJ John Campisano (USA)
Much of his set was like listening to former Orlando Dance radio station 95.3PARTY (WPYO) back at the turn of the century. So many great memories!
Usually the opener has to face an empty room as patrons arrive.
That was not the case last night!
Spotted by the bar: Jeff Kenney from Heavier Than Gravity Designs. Florida’s smartest bar and club owners hire HTG to design and install top quality sound systems for their venues.
He supplied a couple of portable Danley’s for last night’s festivities.
The dance floor was rapidly filling-in.
Such a great set!
And everyone was in a great mood.
We kept running into DJ Tooltime (USA).
And then, at 10PM, there she was! The Bass Queen…..
DJ Baby Anne (USA)
Dance floor got moving.
On this chilly evening, Baby Anne brought the heat!
These gas lanterns didn’t hurt either.
With more warmth provided by a few shots.
On this night of mostly classic Breaks, so many from the local scene came out.
This was the place to be last night.
Some of the classics Baby Anne played included Egyptian Lover hit “Egypt, Egypt” and La Risa dance anthem “I Do Both Jay and Jane“. So many turn of the century Dance hits were Breaks.
Baby Anne officially retired from the DJ business back in June, 2016 as seen in this Blog archives photo taken at her goodbye party at The Social. She’s made a few rare DJ appearances over the years since then.
And what better reason then for Jimmy Joslin’s birthday party last night!
Dancer Kriss Reign (USA) made a special appearance too, spotted here with the birthday boy.
And joined by DJ KJ.
They say you can never go wrong with Go Go girls.
Well damn, they were right!
She still got it. Another great set!
We ran into so many peeps from the Orlando dance scene. Some were new but many we knew.
Supporting the show, DJ Magic Mike (USA) was in the club, spotted here flanked by Dorsey and Victor.
Jimmy announcing the next DJ coming on around 11:15PM.
DJ KJ of K5 (USA)
Continuing the vibe with more Classic Dance hits such as DJ Icey (USA) smash hit “The One“. Speaking of Icey, don’t forget he’s playing on NYE at Iron Cow along with DJ Si-Dog (USA), DJ Sandy (USA), DJ Merlyn (USA), DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA) and more! Don’t get left outside peeking in the window wishing you were inside! It will be NYE’s hottest party and advance tickets are here.
Just like that the floor had become close to impassible.
Towards the front of the club, Dorsey was having a dance-off with Baby Anne.
Everyone was busting their moves.
Breaks have a way of doing that to you.
And KJ’s set was so conducive to that.
Even the Ladies were getting involved.
He closed out his set with another Dance classic, (pending/insert).
More peeps!
Thank you everyone for the poses!
And then around 12:30AM, there he was: DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA).
Now pretty wound-up, he continued with another great Old Skool set.
Kriss came back on to inspire everyone.
Through the fog, the dance floor stayed active.
Welcome to Orlando. This is how we do it.
1AM and no one was leaving just yet.
You know it’s a party when Dorsey is there!
Due to an early Sunday we cut-out at this point, All the DJ’s gave the people what they wanted and a good time was had by all.
