Concert Report: DEDR NYE Party (Iron Cow) By King Bob in Concerts January 1, 2025 Lots of New Years Eve parties around town last night but one of the big ones was in Orlando’s “Milk District” at Iron Cow. We arrived shortly after opening for the “Dog Eat Dog Records NYE Party”. We opened the door to enter the club and were greeted by this welcoming committee of Dawn and Laura! The night began at 8PM with a set from DJ Tom Pettit (USA). Tom Pettit is based in Waterbury, Connecticut. Breaks were the order of the evening and that’s what he delivered. Of course the opener typically gets an empty dance floor to start the night but there were several people already here. Up next, the very-animated DJ Edit (USA). See what we mean? He played the requisite Breaks but also a segment of Progressive Breaks and several tunes with a Housy vibe to them. Near the end, an amazing mashup of some Pink Floyd (GB) and Faithless (GB) “Insomnia“. Hall monitor Stephanie made sure there was no chaos in the queue for the aft bathrooms. This would become very important later in the evening because when you gotta go, you gotta go. DJ Zak Davis (USA) was getting ready to go on at 9:40PM. He was spotted here with Rob Silas, the head honcho at Dog Eat Dog Records and instigator of last night’s event. Besides NYE, we were also celebrating the 26th Anniversary of DEDR. Zak Davis is part of DJ duo Essential Freaks (USA) but the other half, DJ FACTORe (USA), had a gig last night at Truckers Pub in Effingham, Illinois. We’re sure Effingham will never be the same! They also played at last year’s DEDR NYE Party. Dance floor finally became populated during Zak’s set. Breaks were kind of snubbed by EDC-Orlando this year….. But in the latter half of the year we’ve had the Labor Day Bash at HOB, several Breaks shows at Capital Room and Morse Code, the recent Jimmy Joslin’s Birthday Party show at Hammered Lamb and now this! Breaks continue to bring out the crowds! Those looks you get from great Breaks. The LED wall finally came on for the next DJ. DJ Merlyn (USA) You know it’s a great night when Merlyn will be playing. Merlyn is based in Miami. Rare photo of Freaky Frank without a hat on. Dance floor was now officially jammed! Merlyn ending his set with the already-breaky Dom Dolla (AUS) hit “girl$“. About this time dancer Kriss Reign (USA) came on. You know, they say you can never go wrong with Go Go girls. Well damn, they were right! Another view from our Kriss-Cam. DJ’s, we saw DJ’s last all over the club night! Spotted with Rob Silas, DJ Swagkerr (USA) and DJ Tooltime (USA). DJ Cru-Dawg (USA) with DJ Shalawn (USA). DJ Tooltime with Mauricio Arroyave. Kelly with DJ Amber Jane (USA). DJ Eric Berretta (USA) with DJ ZZ (USA). DJ Flurk (USA) with Shailyne. DJ Gruvgirl (USA) with Door Hostess Laura. DJ Si-Dog (USA) with Mariah. Si-Dog would come on next at 11:40PM to take us into the new year! Short set but mostly Classic Breaks such Mon A Q (USA) “Stay In Love“. He had the club bouncing! And then at midnight, the countdown! 15-14-13……3-2-1 Happy New Year! 2025 had arrived! Bring out the bubbly in VIP. The rest of us had to get our drinks at the bar. We ran into so many peeps last night. Some were new but many we knew. A few minutes after midnight it was time for the headliner. We tried to get his picture from afar but this chick on the left kept blocking our view! The legendary DJ Icey (USA). A short Breaks remix of Bee Gees (GB) 70’s classic “Stayin’ Alive” was in his set as was the 80’s Classic from Laid Back (DK) “White Horse“. We had heard he wasn’t going Old Skool last night but there was definitely some Old Skool in there. Dance floor was absolutely packed during Icey’s set. DJ Icey always gives the crowd what they came for. Backstage after his set, DJ Icey spotted here with DJ Merlyn. Joined here by Kriss Reign. More peeps! Already near 1:30AM and time for the next headliner. Power Plus: Legends of the scene! The One And Only DJ Sandy (USA). More Breaks, of course. It was mentioned that this was Sandy’s first DJ appearance anywhere since September, 2023 when he rocked the House of Blues dance floor in Disney Springs at that year’s “Labor Day Bash” event. Yes, you should have Sunday, August 30, 2025 blocked-off on your social calendar! Dance floor remained quite active. 2AM and no one was leaving just yet! Not sure where you spent your NYE but it would have been hard to top this! At 2:20AM, one last set to be played….. DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA) The dance floor looked good. The bar looked good. And a good time was had by all. Happy New Year to everyone and thank you for reading Orlando Entertainment News.
