Club Reports: Red Coconut Club (Universal), Atlantic Dance Hall (Disney)

Saturday night in the city and time for our quarterly visit to CityWalk at Universal Orlando Resort. Their main dance club is Red Coconut Club.
But what the….? The music last night was not Top 40 as is typical at RCC, it was Broadway Night?
We didn’t know you could actually dance to Broadway show tunes, but there were some giving it a try.
In the perch we found DJ Scott Robert (USA).
Quite a few people surrounding the dance floor; very few actually on it.
We first met DJ Scott Robert at Pulse Nightclub back in 2011.
We last saw him when he played a mostly-EDM set at EPCOT: United Kingdom back on New Years Eve 2018/2019. EPCOT‘s “around the world” dance parties on NYE are epic and if you’re thinking of going, it’s not too early to get your ticket and park reservation. Our recollection is that it reached capacity and sold out this past NYE.
Red Coconut was more like the Dead Coconut last night.
If we’re going to visit Universal Studios, it’s only fair we visit Disney World too. With the Pleasure Island club complex now long gone, we dropped by Disney‘s only remaining owned and operated dance club, Atlantic Dance Hall.
We walked into this.
In the perch we found DJ Michael Wycoff (USA).
The music a mix of both old and new Top 40 hits.
We heard some Backstreet Boys (USA), LMFAO (USA), Whitney Houston (USA), Queen (GB) and Taylor Swift (USA), among others. Nearly all songs are accompanied by their music videos.
We even heard a bit of EDM with songs by Avicii (S) and Lil Jon (USA). And oh wow, a Heavy Bass/Dubstep remix by The Weeknd (CDN).
Atlantic Dance Hall is so cavernous that it can seem empty even if there’s a lot of people. And last night there was definitely a crowd.
Pumping out the hits!
We first met DJ Michael Wycoff back in early 2018 when he often played at “Late Night Disney Springs” events on Pleasure Island. That ended during the covid19 closures and Disney has sadly never resurrected it.
Atlantic Dance Hall is one of the few clubs in the Orlando area where many of the patrons wear Mouse ears. Well, actually, Atlantic Dance Hall is the only club in the Orlando area where many of the patrons wear Mouse ears.
Pleasure Island was being represented: Dawn from 8TRAX & Club Motion with Onna from Mannequins Dance Palace.
That look you get from great music.
Cupid Shuffle!
Atlantic Dance Hall is located at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort in Bay Lake, FL. Admission and parking are free. A good time was had by all.
