By now you know that Barbarella relocated earlier this year from an industrial park off John Young Parkway to a new place inside The Axe Trap on Lee Road in Winter Park. They are open every Saturday night with a mostly 80’s New Wave and Alternative music format.And about one Friday per month, they are open for “Memento Mori” with a darker Gothier, Industrial & Power Noise format. This being the holiday season though, Axe Trap was completely booked out on Fridays for private events so last night was a combo of their regular Saturday and Friday nights. And just as it should be on a Friday Saturday night, we found DJ Lavidicus (USA) in the booth delivering the tunes along with Lighting Tech Ernie. We had arrived close to their 10PM opening time and there was already a crowd on the dance floor.The early set mostly 80’s New Wave classics. So many Barbarella girls!After 11PM, Lavidicus would switch it over to the darker stuff.The Axe Trap building is located on sacred grounds where Winter Park’s famed Booby Trapstrip club gentlemen’s club was once located. This pole in the corner pays homage to it.Dance floor got jammed with more beautiful people. You can wear your favorite color to Barbarella, as long as your favorite color is black.A good time was had by all.Located just off Sand Lake Road, London House is a private members-only venue that has a restaurant section and a separate dance club section called “The Bond Room”.We arrived to find resident DJ Chymera (USA) in the booth.Just a couple dancers on the floor when we first got there.But that would quickly change. The party had begun!The music is just about 100% EDM and Top 40 hits remixed to an EDM beat.The bar was jammed.Club Hostess Nora was in attendance! And on the far right, of course we know former Suite B Lounge owner Sammy!They say you can never go wrong with Go Go girls.Well damn, they were right!A good time was had by all.
